There are times when you have to step out so that you can step up. Many will tell you that it is to risky…others will say that you aren’t ready. Then some will remind you of how comfortable you are…take an honest look at yourself and see your potential,  your fight and your drive. Stepping up and fighting for a better you leaves you with fewer and fewer people in your corner, good – you dropped the dead weight and stepped out so you can step into the future of you. Let your critics stand with their jaws on the floor as you do what they don’t have the ambition to do. Stand tall, take in your personal inventory, see what resources you have and when you think you are ready – go for it!

You aren’t turning your back on anyone really, your loved ones may be confused, your friends may complain that you aren’t around like you used to be, in order to get a different result you have to do something different. You are not looking to do something average – and mediocre is not for you, so why put in average work if you want outstanding results?

Those that rise to the occasion, those that continously outperform their peers are able to pat their own back. Because they break their backs, they have sweat across their brow, they put all their energy and all they are into their goal. They put their all their investments into their journey because they want to look back and say, “I deserve this, I worked hard for this, I didn’t write just any old song – I wrote a Platinum hit”, that is a great feeling, but that takes having to turn your back on the crowd and direct your own orchestra.

Greatness is no accident, if it falls on someone’s lap and is more likely to fall right off. What you seek to obtain is something that will stay with you and continue to grow with you. You will continue to cultivate it and it will continue to reward you.

There is no, “I don’t understand how I got here”, to greatness you realize when you reach a certain level everything you have done and everything that has happened to you has been a piece of the puzzle. You realize that the suffering you went through, the lessons you were taught, the people that took time to hurt you and the people that were taken out of your life was all for a reason.

Hence, aim high and work shamelessly towards it. Your crowd will become smaller,  trust me – you don’t need the extra weight.  Big hug!

  1. Great post, and awesome quote! I always feel like such an oddball for being different than most of my peers, but this post made me happy 🙂
